Vin santo

Vinsanto, a sweet wine made with white raisins, is deeply rooted in the tradition of our country life and customs. Every family had a bottle of ‘Vinsanto’ to offer their guests. It’s long been a symbol of friendship and hospitality and was used on any occasion deserving a toast.

It’s a white wine, amber in colour, which is mainly served with desserts but is also good as an aperitif.

Vinsanto  is produced from raisins which are meticulously dried in order to get a higher percentage of sugar. Dry and windy soil, right exposure and special care in growing vines are relevant factors too.

Raisins are traditionally dried in a room, called ‘Appassitoio’, where bunches of grapes are laid on mats or crates until fully dry, then raisins are pressed and must is put in wooden kegs of different wood and size. Kegs are sealed and after a minimum of 3 years Vinsanto is first filtered and then finally bottled.

The minimum alcoholic content is 15,5°.
