Arezzo
The town is situated in lowlands where four valleys meet – Valdichiana, Valtiberina, Casentino and Valdarno – in the south-east of Tuscany. At first sight it looks like one of the many Medieval Tuscan cities, but if you walk along the old town centre you’ll find out there are buildings and churches of the Renaissance too. Famous artists were born, lived and worked here: Vasari, Petrarch, Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca and Cimabue are among them.
Don’t miss the Cathedral, the Town Hall, the Fortress, the splendid ‘Santa
Maria della Pieve – a church of the XIIth century – the Crucifix of Cimabue in the church of San Domenico, the elegant loggia in Renaissance style in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the famous frescoes by Piero della Francesca in the Church of St. Francis.

Two are the events you shouldn’t miss if you want to live some of the magic of the past: the Antiques Fair – which takes place every first Sunday of the month, and the Saracen Jousting Tournament – which is held twice a year, at the end of June and the beginning of September.
In town you’ll also find shopping centres, banks, post office, pharmacies and anything else you may need during your stay.
